When we asked Joe what he enjoys about working with children, he said, “Kids are so full of optimism and endless potential. I love that I am able to share the lessons that I’ve learned to help them develop their artistic talent.” Of all the mediums we use at Holt School, his favorite to work with is charcoal stating, “Once you learn how to control it, you can do some pretty cool things.”
Joe doesn’t limit his creative outlets just to teaching in the classroom. He also spends time on his personal work outside of class. “I enjoy creating illustrations that call back to children’s books I used to read as a kid. I also have a watercolor series of Northeastern birds I’ve been working on.” A few years ago, he participated in an exhibition where almost all of his pieces were sold. He also donates multiple works each year to help different organizations in his hometown of Jamestown, NY.
We are so happy to have made Joe part of the Holt School family and he feels the same way, “I feel grateful to have found such a rewarding job. It’s nice to be around art and positivity every day.”
